We are Class F2A

Please take a look at some of the wonderful things we do in class.  We learn in so many different ways and we are delighted to share some of these experiences with you.  The page will be updated on a regular basis and will include photographs, homework tasks and ideas to support learning at home.

How to Support Your Child at Home

A huge thank you to those of you who attended the F2 Phonics Workshop on Thursday 23rd January.  As always your support is really appreciated.  Here is the powerpoint from the session and some additional resources that might be of use, if you do have any questions then do not hesitate to ask a member of the F2 Team.

Read, Write, Inc. is the scheme that we use at St. Joseph's to teach phonics.  The website contains many valuable resources to support teaching phonics at home. http://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/parents/

This video is very useful in supporting correct sound pronunciation.

Our Amazing Spinney

We have spent some quality time over the past few weeks working with Mr Purslow and Mrs Munn to investigate the wonderful flowers and plants that live in our Spinney area.  We have been watching for seasonal changes and have made leaf rubbings, created paintings and taken photographs to show the diversity that exists in nature.

We have also been using the Spinney to help in securing our understanding of cross-curricular topics; using leaves to study symmetry in maths for example and using it as a backdrop for singing nursery rhymes.  We will continue to research our special area as the seasons progress.

Welcome to our New Children

We were so excited to welcome our new children to St. Joseph's. All the new children received a special letter from their new teacher and a book all about their new school.  The children have all made a wonderful start in their new school, we really are so proud of them.
