Phonics Workshop - How you can support your child at home,,,
A huge thank you to those of you who attended the F2 Phonics Workshop on Thursday 23rd January. As always your support is really appreciated. Here is the powerpoint from the session and some additional resources that might be of use, if you do have any questions then do not hesitate to ask a member of the F2 Team.
Read, Write, Inc. is the scheme that we use at St. Joseph's to teach phonics. The website contains many valuable resources to support teaching phonics at home. http://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/parents/
This video is very useful in supporting correct sound pronunciation.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt!
Or at least we will be! Starting from next week we are going to be exploring the fantastic book by author Michael Rosen. The story will be taught through Pie Corbett's Talk For Writing approach, which enables children to learn actions and sounds throughout the story to support their ability to recall and retell it. This approach equips children with the confidence to begin to write, as they become so familiar with the language patterns in the story. Eventually, the children will progress to adapting the story to write their own!
We will update this section each term. Below you can view the timetable for this term and some information about the exciting things we are learning about and what we have coming up.
