Home Learning Packs

We have put together a pack of learning resources for the children. The pack is designed to help keep a link between home and school for the children. Each day at 09:00 Mr Hughes or Mrs Todd will upload activities for that day ranging from Phonics to Arts and Crafts. For the next 2 weeks we will be focusing on Easter. It would be a good idea to plan a timetable with the children to complete their activities and of course leave plenty of time for play based learning around the home. The week will look similar to what is below:

Monday: PE with Joe Wicks 09:00. Phonics, video via Read Write Inc. YouTube page and a sentence writing challenge. The sentence writing should be done in the children's yellow books provided in their pack.

Tuesday: PE with Joe Wicks 09:00. Maths and a creative activity

Wednesday:  PE with Joe Wicks 09:00. Phonics, video via Read Write Inc. YouTube page and a sentence writing challenge. The sentence writing should be done in the children's yellow books provided in their pack.

Thursday: PE with Joe Wicks 09:00. Maths and a creative activity

Friday: PE with Joe Wicks 09:00. Phonics, video via Read Write Inc. YouTube page and a sentence writing challenge. The sentence writing should be done in the children's yellow books provided in their pack.

To contact your Teacher this is best done using Class Dojo however if you wish to use Tapestry to upload photographs/ videos of the children doing their work this would be great!

Tuesday 2nd June

Todays work is the number 8 for maths and a split pin astronaut for topic.

There is also some Health and Wellbeing activities which are for the whole school to complete - there is one a day and this week's are linked to the story 'The Huge Bag of Worries' by Virginia Ironside.

Please sign up to the FREE Oxford Owl resources. As well as lots of other free resources they are offering Read Write Inc. resources free to parents during this period. Phonics challenges will be based around the 'Ditty' books. Today I would like to encourage the children to read Green book 'Will's net' or Red book 'I can hop' depending on where you think your child should be focusing following the sounds assessment. Skateboard Sid will provide a really good opportunity for the children to familiarise themselves with vowel sounds. This will require a bit of practise I am sure!

Please check your Class Dojo messages to find login details for 'Sumdog'.

Friday 22nd May

Today's tasks can be completed today or over the half term break.

Granny has been everywhere this past couple of weeks, but where would you like to go? Tell us your own adventure.

For phonics, go to www.phonicsplay.co.uk and play some games - it is free at the moment. Choose either phase 2 or 3 for the games.

Enjoy the half term break.

Thursday 21st May

Granny is off to Japan for kite flying today, then onto Peru to fetch some Lamas.

The weekly number  is 7 - so get practicing those 7 Dwarf names and the days of the week.

Wednesday 20th May

Today we will be looking at Russia and Australia in Granny Went to Market.

The phonics today is a reading for meaning activity. Ask your child to read the sentences carefully and draw exactly what it says - try not to help with the reading part, but instead, encourage them to sound out the words.

Enjoy the sunshine.

Tuesday 19th May

Today we are visiting Africa with Granny - a chance to create a safari with your toys or maybe some African drumming (pans work just fine!).

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and your second task today is to create a poster, song or maybe a dance,  all about Kindness.  Below are some websites to support with mental health concerns.

Tuesday 12th May

Monday 11th May 2020

Phonics challenge: Today's phonics challenge is REALLY important and will be very useful to see where the children are at with their sound recall, word recognition and blending.

I would like you to encourage the chiildren to use the document above 'Latest phonics assessment- learn words not highlighted'. However, you could write all of the sounds out on flashcards and then ask the children to use their 'lolli' sticks/ tip of a pencil to point to each word. Remember to use your Fred fingers to help separate and blend the individal sounds.

You can update me on how the children do via Tapestry. If your child wants a further challenge then you could make a sentence with some of the words and ask them to read the sentence.

Creative challenge: Self Portraits: I would love to see the children try and complete a self portrait. It will be really interesting to see these as I remember what their self-portraits were like in September!

Here is a useful link to help:

Thursday 7th May

Today's activities are on Purple Mash. I have sent each child an email on there, which they can reply to. They will probably need help reading and replying, but encourage them to have a go at words they know (I'm very good at reading children's writing attempts!). You might want to talk to them about email and what it is. You could mention that you must make sure you only open emails from people you know and only write nice things. Any problems let me know.

I have also set a 2Do task all about trains in the past, which they could have a go.

Have a relaxing bank holiday weekend.
