Physical Education

The Physical Education curriculum is structured around QCA documentation supported by Wirral LA and Val Sabin schemes. From September 2014 we will be following the new Curriculum produced by Wirral LA. The programme encourages the development of skills and understanding in six specified areas - games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, swimming and outdoor and adventurous activities. Each lesson focuses on the child being physically active and on the importance of fair play and safety. Extra curricular clubs provide a variety of sporting activities across all Key Stages. Good links are made with feeder secondary schools in physical education and through local clusters of schools.

Close links with Upton Hall through the Sports Partnership enables all pupils to experience an enriched PE curriculum.

Several sports networks are in place enabling inter-school tournaments in a number of disciplines. This is supported through our service level agreement with Wirral LA.

A sports coach works with pupils in Ks2 during every lunchtime to promote further structured physical activity for all pupils.

Each year we hold a Health Awareness week. All pupils take part in the Freddie Fit programme and all curriculu is based on supporting a healthy lifestyle.
