A Visit From the Mayor and Mayoress

This week we were honoured to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral to St Joseph's. A few weeks ago we were approached by the Mayor and Mayoress and asked if our school would run a competition to design the Mayor's Christmas card.  Miss Ridgway organised the event and children from across the school worked hard to create designs that reflected the true meaning of Christmas.  Once the designs were finished we asked our Head Boy and Head Girl to judge some of the entries (not from their own phase), these were then passed to the Mayor and Mayoress who selected a finalist from each phase and the overall winner.  Yesterday the Mayor and Mayoress visited the school to announce the winners and present prizes.  This was a very different experience to their previous visit but it was still a very special occasion and the children were able to share some of the songs that they have been preparing for the virtual carol concert.  It was a wonderful morning and we were so proud of the children for performing their songs so beautifully.  A huge thank you to the Mayor and Mayoress for taking the time to visit our school, we were delighted to be chosen to design your official Christmas card and we are looking forward to receiving our very own virtual card.
